A farewell ceremony was held for well-know doctor, member of Paris International Academy of Surgery, publicist and literary critic Javad Heyat.
APA reports that his family members, intellectuals and representatives of the public community are attending the ceremony.
Wife of the late doctor Farida Heyat told APA that a man as Javad Heyat is a pride of every country. “His absence is a great loss. I know that the people attending the ceremony share the feelings of our family”, she said.
Farida Heyat clarified his husband’s behest on his funeral. “He bequeathed to be buried in Tabriz or in Baku at least. We are not able to bury him in Tabriz so he will be buried in Baku”, she said.
According to other media reports, the lengthy negotiations between Azerbaijani and Iranian officials to transfer Dr. Heyat’s lifeless body to his beloved hometown, Tabriz had been futile.
The family of Dr. Heyat and other Azerbaijani intellectuals also pleaded to Iran’s Supreme leader, Khamanei for permission to hold Dr. Heyat’s funeral in Tabriz. However, the Iranian leader has refused to grant permission and therefore, Dr. Heyat’d funeral was held in Baku, the capital of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Farewell ceremony was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan followed by his courteous burial in the Honorary Cemetery of Baku on 15th August 2014, where the country’s prominent intellectuals and politicians including the late presidents Abulfez Elchibey and Heydar Aliyev are buried.
