IRAN’S ETTELAAT DETAINS S. AZERBAIJANI ACTIVISTS IN  MOUNT SAVALAN

 

Tens of South Azerbaijani activists were arrested by Iran’s Spy Agency Ettelaat in the  Mount  Savalan of  Ardebil Province. The activist were peacefully chanting as they were hiking in the Mountains.  Some of captives are identified as   Hasan Jolani, Mesam Jolani,  Jafar Rostami, Habib Negahban,  Farhad Aslani,  Rahim Gulami,  Said Hoseini,  Isa Azizi, Sejjad Ibrahimpur, Ali Jolani, Aidin Zaker,  Hamid Quti, Reza Quti.  The Identities of other detainees are being established. The detainees are taken to Ettelaat’s holding center in Meshkinshehr. It is feared that the captives are physically and mentally abused or  tortured. The activists are accused of organizing an unlawful gathering and propaganda against the Islamic regime.

The banner carried by the activists reads: “Azerbaijan Is Destroyed… The Nation Shall Rise”

The Mount Savalan is the highest peak in South Azerbaijan and is believed to be a symbol of resistance among many South Azerbaijanis.
