General public in Tabriz woke up this morning to witness banners hanging on the top of bridges, in the popular parks and busy streets demanding an immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Rasul Razavi, a South Azerbaijani political prisoner. Some of the banners read “free Rasul Razavi!”
Mr.Razavi is an Azerbaijani activist on his 24th day of hunger strike in Tabriz Prison. His health is reportedly deteriorating and h is reported to be unable to walk and speak.
Razavi has been serving a sentence of 1 year in prison for participating in the peaceful demonstrations against racist state TV program of “Fetileh” in which children of Turkic background were depicted as ignorant and dumb. The show sparked wide-spread demonstrations across south Azerbaijan which were brutally suppressed by Iranian regime.
