The Iranian Intelligence Agency, Ettelaat has made a number of unlawful arrests in many cities of South Azerbaijan and the capital, Tehran.
This morning the Ettelaat agents stormed into another well-known activist, Alireza Farshi’s residence in Tehran, performed an illegal search, confiscated his personal computers and belongings, arrested and immediately transferred him to the Iran’s notorious Evin Prison.
He is believed to be one of the activists behind a country-wide campaign aimed to obtain permission for peaceful demonstrations in Tehran and some cities of South Azerbaijan.
Prior to Farshi’s detention, Ettelaat detained other activists including Aidin Zakeri, Ali Rezayi, İslamli Akbarli, Araz khassetaraş Amin Hajili and many others intending to prevent the planned peaceful protests which would merely demand the very basic right of education in mother language for over 35 million Azerbaijani Turks.
