32 Lawmakers of the Israeli Parliament-Knesset have appealed to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure international support for the independence of South Azerbaijan.

The lawmakers’ appeal indicates that during the most recent anti-government protests the people of South Azerbaijan demanded by chanting “Freedom, Justice and Independence- self governance.”

The 32 lawmakers constituting one-fourth of all members of the Knesset have requested to devote attention to the repressive politics of Tehran against Azerbaijanis in Iran and stated:

This is the largest ethnic group in Iran, numbering more than 20 million. The regime made it impossible for the Azerbaijan minority to protect their own heritage and language and to carry them out to future generations, and prevent them from even giving their children Azerbaijani names.”
