Last night the South Azerbaijani journalist Said Matinpur was, for unidentified reasons, re-exiled to Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison.
According to his close relatives, the activist is being held at the quarantine centre of the Evin.
Last month his family reported that Mr. Matinpur’s health condition deteriorated due to severe teeth, gum and ear infection with a risk of dispersion to his blood.
The Matinpurs further claimed that the management of Zengan Prison failed to provide the activist with adequate medical assistance.
Mr. Matinpur was arrested 6 years ago on false charges of “Attempt of Subversion of Islamic State” and “Espionage” and convicted to 8 years in prison. Mr. Matinpur was being held at Tehran’s Evin Prison for many years. After political prisoners’ protest in September 2014, Matinpur was transferred to the prison of Zengan, South Azerbaijan.
