Appeal Tribunal Upholds Alimohamadi’s Sentence

The 3rd division of the Eastern Azerbaijan Appeal Court upheld the sentencing of Azerbaijani civil rights activist Hussein Ali Mohammadi as a 3-year prison sentence.

Earlier, the Tabriz Revolutionary Court’s second division issued a three-year jail sentence for the Azerbaijani activist accused of “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran” and “propagandizing the system”. He was sentenced to two years in jail for his first charges and one year in jail for his second conviction.

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction and sentence ordered by the lower Revolutionary Court. Hussein Ali Mahammadi was arrested on March 1, 2015 by the Ettelaat agents and taken to Tabriz Central Prison where he is currently servicing his sentence.
