S. Azerbaijani Political Prisoner Continues Hunger Strike

The South Azerbaijani political activist and well-known artist-painter Murtza Parvin continues his hunger strike in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison.

The activist suffers from chronic back pain due to a ruptured disc. It is believed that his physical condition has worsened and, considering his hunger strike for the last 14 days his health is deteriorating.

The brother of the prisoner, Muctaba Parvin, shared a video and stated that his brother had phone contact with his family on March 1.

“As I said before, I do not and will not give up. I will continue the hunger. “As my last act, I will sacrifice my life for Azerbaijan,” prisoner activist Murtaza Parvin informed his family.

The southern activist Murtaza Parvin was arbitrarily arrested by the intelligence agents of the regime of Tehran in Ardebil.S. Azerbaijan on February 6th 2024 and later transferred to Tehran’s Evin Prison. Murtza Pərvin is a visual painter, performer, expert and resident of the city of Ardabil.

Murtaza Parvin started his hunger in protest against the bogus accusations announced by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security.

The activist was previously reported to have been detained by the secret services of the racist regime of Tehran several times due to his participation in protests to save Lake Urmu and the during marches to the Babək Fortress and other protests.

Activists of the South Azerbaijan national movement have distributed posters with the content “Prisons cannot silence the art and artist” in support of the artist and activist Murtaza Parvin.
