Ettelaat detains Azerbaijani writer, Mojagan Siyami

Iran’s intelligence agency, Ettelaat arbitrary arrested Ms. Mojgan Siyami ( pictured) of Ardebil, South Azerbaijan. The reasons for the arrest has not been disclosed; however, it is presumed that Ms. Siyami has been detained for her civil right advocacy. It is feared that she is being subjected to cruel treatment or torture.

Ms. Siyami was a presidential candidate during the last presidential race in iran. Her candidacy was disallowed by the Guardian Council as she was advocating for secularism and ethnic – cultural equality between the Fars and Turks.
She is the chief editor of Saray journal and writer of many books such as Tears of Savalan.
