The family of Mr. Alireza Farashi said another prominent South Azarbaijani political leader Alireza Farshi was arrested and taken to unknown location by the intelligence officials of the occupying regime of Islamic Republic. The Azerbaijani activists that has had no contact with his family and relatives after being detained and that he had not been informed about the reasons for his arrest and charge.

Farshi has been sentenced to 15 years in prison hower the matter is in appeal and no decision on the appeal has been made. Therefore, the reason for Farshi’s detention remains a mistery.

According to relatives, after the arrest of the activist, on December 9, the authorities also visited his residence in Tehran and confiscated his books and personal belongings.
