The Azerbaijani MP Reacts to Racist Slogans of Persepolis Fans

You all should be ashamed,  said  Ruhullah Mutafakkar Azad, an MP from Tabriz in Iran’s parliament:
“These actions, racial slogans and offensive statements do not suit an institution that calls itself a “civilization and sports club”,” he noted.

Mr. Azad indicated that he wrote a letter to the sports minister regarding the issue and wanted the perpetrators to be punished. He stated that the racist slogans against Turks and Azerbaijanis served to discord in the country on ethnic grounds.

The “Tractur” Team of Tabriz and the “Persepolis” Team of Tehran met on January 26 at the “Azadi” stadium of Tehran. During the match the Persepolis fans constantly shouted offensive and racist slogans against Turks and players of the “Tractor”. They also threw sharp objects into the field and attacked the fans  of the Tabriz club injuring  33 people.
