Mehdi Amirinejad a southern Azerbaijani activist has been found guilty of “activities against national security of Iran” and sentenced to two years in prison by the Islamic Tribunal of Tabriz.
Mr. Amirinejad was arrested on May 15 2016 by Ettelaat- Intelligence Service’s Ardabil City headquarter along with Habib Sasaniyan and other 4 activists for allegedly establishing a para-military group called” South Azerbaijan National Army. He is also charged with espionage.
