A group of Azerbaijani political prisoners held in Evin Prison of Tehran have faced increasing pressure and new restrictions.
According to human rights sources, these prisoners — Araz Aman, Ayaz Seyfxah, Bagir Hajizadeh, and Karam Mardan — have complained about harsh detention conditions, restricted access to basic necessities, and psychological pressure.
It is reported that new regulations have been imposed on these individuals held in Ward 7 of the prison, and, under the orders of the ward’s head, Colonel Mahmoudi, their access to the library, gym, outdoor air, and cafeteria has been completely suspended. The prisoners have also complained about poor-quality food, the smell of sewage, and the lack of ventilation.
These activists were arrested in February 2024 in Tabriz and Ardabil and were later sentenced to long prison terms by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court Judge Abolqasem Salavati on unfounded charges.
