Jebrail Pakruh, a South Azerbaijani civil activist, is currently hospitalized in the neurology ward of Razi Hospital in Tabriz due to myasthenia gravis (MG). Despite his medical condition, he has received a notice ordering him to serve his prison sentence and report to prison.

According to available documents, Branch 10 of the Criminal Enforcement Office of the Tabriz Prosecutor’s Office issued a notice titled “Summons to Set a Deadline for the Appearance and Surrender of the Person in Question.” The notice gives his guarantor 30 days to present and surrender Mr. Pak-Ruh. Otherwise, the bail will be confiscated.

The case was initiated following a complaint by the NAJA Legal Affairs Department and the East Azerbaijan Parliamentary Affairs Office, accusing him of “spreading falsehoods.”

In a video recorded at Razi Hospital in Tabriz, Jebrail stated that, due to the severity of his illness, he requires periodic IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) treatment. However, he said that the relevant authorities and Iran’s Social Security Organization have refused to approve and cover the substantial costs of his treatment. Strongly criticizing the injustice and pressures he faces, he described the financial and medical circumstances of himself and his family as critical.

A medical letter issued by the Razi Educational and Medical Center in Tabriz also confirms that his treating physician has stressed the need for hospitalization and another course of IVIG to treat his myasthenia gravis.

Nevertheless, following the issuance of the prison enforcement order, there is a possibility that the Azerbaijani activist could be transferred to prison in the coming days, despite his unstable medical condition.
