DEMONSTRATORS OF “SOUTH AZERBAIJAN ISN’T IRAN” BANNER ARE PERSECUTED

The alleged demonstrators of the above pictured banner “South Azerbaijan Isn’t Iran” during a soccer contest between South Azerbaijan’s “Tractor” soccer club and the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) “Aljazeera” team were tried on 31st December 2013 in Tabriz, South Azerbaijan.
The in-camera trial was held at the Islamic Revolutionary Tribunal of Tabriz. 20 Azerbaijani soccer fans are charged with “public mischief” and “conspiracy against the national security of Islamic regime.”
The court has not released its decision as of yet. If found guilty, the accuseds may be sentenced to years of imprisonment.

Some of the accuseds are identified as follows:
Ali Ahmadi, J. Rustəmi Rad, Musa Sudi, Siyamek Saifi, Hussein Adlju, Kesra Davoudi and Siyamek Irani .

Aljazeera and Tractor’s game was part of the Asian Football Championship.
