During the question period at Iranian parliament, the South Azerbaijani representative directed a question to Iran’s President asking him about the campaign promises he made to the people of Azerbaijan.
Mr. Davatgeri criticized the president of making false promises including formation of a Turkic Language and Literature Academy, Education in in Turkic Language and immediate restoration of lake Urmia.
“It seems that president Ruhani had made such promises to win the elections. However, 18 months of his presidential term  have already passed, and  the president has taken no action to either restore the Lake Urmia or to establish the Turkic Language and Literature Academy.” stated the South Azerbaijani MP.
Mr. Davatgeri added that that the Lake is on the verge of extinction and the salt storms are turning the nearby  Azerbaijani settlements including Maragha and Ajabshir into a desert.
