As forest fires in the Garadagh region of Southern Azerbaijan continue to spiral out of control, the occupying regime in Iran has once again displayed a hypocritical attitude. During a recent fire in Persian-majority regions, the authorities urgently requested aircraft and helicopters from Türkiye. Yet, in the face of the massive fires raging in South Azerbaijan, they have not issued a single call for assistance.

The Republic of Azerbaijan, recognizing the imminent danger near its border, offered support. However, the regime openly rejected this offer—revealing that the issue is not an inability to govern, but a deliberate policy of indifference and neglect.

In an area where state support is entirely absent, local Azerbaijani residents are risking their lives—without equipment, masks, or any protective gear—to defend their forests, environment, and the ancient homeland with their bare hands.

The expanding fires around Garadagh threaten not only South Azerbaijan but also the ecological balance of the entire South Caucasus. Forests are being destroyed, animals are burning, and water resources are suffering irreversible damage.
