IRAN’S SPY AGENCY DETAINS SOUTH AZERBAIJANI ACTIVIST, ALI REZAYI

Mr. Ali Rezayi of Qoshachay, South Azerbaijan has been arbitrarily detained by the Iranian spy agency, Ettelaat.
Mr. Rezayi was arrested in early February by the Ettelaat agents in Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport as he was attempting to board his flight to the porter city of Bandar Abbas. Reportedly, the activist was traveling to complete his work assignment.
Mr. Rezayi’s whereabouts is still unknown. In an interview with BBC Farsi his spouse has indicated that her husband is being held in full incommunicado and the authorities refuse to provide any information on his whereabouts and reason for his detention. Neither the accused’s spouse nor Mr. Rezayi’s attorney has been able to visit him or provided with access to his file.
Ali Rezayi, South Azerbaijani activist Some South Azerbaijani human rights advocates believe that Mr. Rezayi may have been arrested for his role in the recent campaign for a peaceful demo on 21st February 2015 in commemoration of International Mother Language Day.
