South Azerbaijani Activist Ebrahim Asemani Transferred to Tabriz Prison

Tabriz — Ebrahim Asemani, a South Azerbaijani national activist, was transferred to Tabriz Prison on Sunday 23 March 2025 , after approximately three weeks in detention.

During the weeks following his arrest, Asemani’s family reported being unable to obtain clear information about his whereabouts or the reasons for his detention, despite repeated inquiries with judicial authorities. Requests for his temporary release on bail have so far been denied.

According to available information, Asemani was arrested by security forces in Tabriz and initially transferred to an undisclosed location. Authorities have not publicly announced the charges against him or the grounds for his arrest.

Ebrahim Asemani, born in 1964, is a resident of Tabriz. He has previously faced summonses, arrests, and judicial convictions in connection with his civic and activist activities.
