iran’s Revolutionary Tribunal Convicts A. Lisani; 8 Years Prison; 2 Years Exile!

The Revolutionary Tribunal of the occupying regime of Iran has released its harsh decision against the South Azerbaijani civil rights activist, Abbas Lisani.

The 1st Division of the Revolutionary Tribunal of City of Ardabil, South Azerbaijan released its order to the activist’s lawyer on Monday July 08th 2019 which finds Mr. Lisani “guilty” of ” Subversive Attempts against the Islamic Republic”; “Establishment of Unlawful Groups and Assemblies”; and “Attempts Against National Security”. It has ordered the activist’s continued imprisonment up to 8 years followed by 2 years exile to unhabitable deserts of Yazd Province.

In his defense submission made on the final day of his “trial” on 15 June 2019 Mr. Lisani indicated that all charges against him are baseless and fabricated by the intelligence agency, Ettelaat.


The Revolutionary Tribunal of the occupying regime of Iran has recently ordered harsh prison sentences against the South Azerbaijani civil rights activists. It has sentenced Tractor Azerbaijan Succer Club Fans leader, Kazem Safabakhsh to 13 years in prison. The tribunal has also refused to release another Turkish activist, Siamak Mirzaei from Evin Prison at the end of his 3 years prison sentence and therefore, he has gone on hunger strike since July 1st in protest to unjust decision. According to local sources, Siamak’s condition is life-threatening.
