Today marked the end of a 48-day hunger strike by South Azerbaijan national activists Vadood Asadi, Taher Naghavi, Ayaz SaifKhah, and Mahmoud Ojaghloo, who are imprisoned in Evin Prison. The hunger strike ended in the presence of their families.
The decision followed a collective appeal issued one day earlier by activists of the South Azerbaijan National Movement, calling on the prisoners to end the strike. During a prison visit, family members emphasized the prisoners’ severely deteriorating physical condition and conveyed the activists’ message, urging them to halt the hunger strike in order to preserve their lives.
In response to these urgent requests, the prisoners agreed to break the hunger strike. However, both the activists and the families have stressed that the demands raised by the prisoners remain valid and unresolved. They have reaffirmed their commitment to continue pursuing the prisoners’ legal and civil rights through other lawful and peaceful means.
