Human-Rights-Council-UN-Photo-450x300Mr. Ahmad Shahid, the UN’s Special rapporteur on Iran has issued his most recent report on violations of human rights in Iran.

The most recent report condemns the Iranian regime’s persistent persecution of  ethnic and religious minorities and their rights’ advocates.

The report also challenges the regime’s newly ratified “political crimes bill” which  further restricts basic freedoms and contravenes  the international human rights  and Iran’s other  international obligations.

The UNHRC’s March report also includes cases of some South Azerbaijani ethnic rights’ defenders such as Saeid Matinpour,  Dr. Latif Hasani, Ayat Mehralibeglu, Shahram Radmehr, Bahbood Gulizade, Mahmood Fazli who were sentenced to 9 years in prison for ” acting against the national security”.
