On November 11, 2025, South Azerbaijani political activist Abbas Lisani and several others were detained by Iranian security forces in front of the EVİN Penitentiary in Tehran while demonstrating support for the families of political prisoners Vudud Asedi and Tahir Nakavi, who are on hunger strike.
Lawyer Sina Yousefi reported that security forces violently dispersed the activists and families, confiscating banners, breaking chairs, and assaulting relatives. Confirmed detainees include Abbas Lisani, Ali Kheirjou, Yusuf Kari, and Behzad Dashti, though the number may rise as communication with others has been lost.

The incident occurred amid growing concern over the critical health conditions of Asedi and Nakavi, fueling further outrage and signaling that protests by the South Azerbaijani National Movement are likely to intensify in the coming days.
